Approval from API’s Engine Oil Licensing and Certification System (EOLCS) – May 2018
The API SN PLUS specification was requested by the automobile industry to protect passenger vehicles from low-speed pre-ignition (LSPI). LSPI is the spontaneous ignition of the fuel/air mixture prior to spark-triggered ignition. It occurs in today’s advanced engines and is much more destructive than typical pre-ignition.
The American Petroleum Institute (API) has announced that May 1, 2018 will be the first licensing date for API SN Plus. ATLANTIC is ahead of the game and our current formulations of ATLANTIC SYNTHECH ULTRA HIGH TECH ENGINE OIL series meet or exceed the new SN PLUS specification. Appropriate ATLANTIC products were ready to be certified as API SN Plus before the official launch date.
Our product labels will soon feature the new API “donut.”
